A Perfect Way to Start Your Day

Are You Beginning Your Day in His Presence?

I was so impressed with the following devotional by Adrian Rogers that I wanted to pass it on to you our readers. The message is clear and straightforward. However, I feel that is a reminder that we all need as believers, and one that grows more dear to me the longer I know our Savior.

“My voice shalt Thou hear in the morning,
O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto Thee,
and will look up.”
Psalm 5:3

Most Christians fail in their Christian life for one simple reason: They fail to have a quiet time. They fail to start the day with Jesus.
It is so simple. They say, “Why am I failing? Why don’t I have the victory? Why don’t I understand?” And I want to respond, “Why don’t you get quiet before God at the beginning of your day and saturate your soul with His presence and bathe your heart with His Word?”
Someone once wrote, “Every morning lean thine arms a while upon the windowsill of heaven and gaze upon thy Lord. And then with the vision in thy heart, turn strong to meet the day.

I Come To The Garden Alone Hymn
I come to the garden alone
While the dew is still on the roses
And the voice I hear falling on my ear
The Son of God discloses.

And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own;
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.

He speaks, and the sound of His voice,
Is so sweet the birds hush their singing,
And the melody that He gave to me
Within my heart is ringing.

I’d stay in the garden with Him
Though the night around me be falling,
But He bids me go; through the voice of woe
His voice to me is calling.

World is Insecure

 SECURE IN HIM

One thing is for certain and that is that in today's world, nothing, absolutely nothing, is certain! Political, economic, financial, and social winds change radically at the drop of a hat. Leaders, systems, and organizations may fail us and let us down. We just cannot predict our future in this present climate. However, as the old saying goes, "We do know the one who holds the future." His name is Jesus Christ and we can trust that He never changes.

We used to be members of a small Foursquare church in Southern California. On the wall behind the alter was a Bible verse in beautiful gold script. It read, "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever." Hebrews 13:8. Whether I was listening to the pastor deliver his sermon or lifting my heart and voice in praise to the Lord, that passage of scripture on the wall brought me comfort. That was almost 30 years ago. Little did I know how much more turmoil, turbulence, sin, and depravity we would be facing in this year of 2012. Needless to say Hebrews 13:8 is even more dear to me today and is a stabilizing force in my life.

As we are bombarded with startling news concerning the state of our nation and the world, we can remain strong and confident as we turn to our Saviour. Intimate time in praise, worship, and thanksgiving will bring solace and security to our souls."You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you: because he trusts in you." AKJV Isaiah 26:3  I believe, too, that as we give glory and honor to the Lord in praise and as we declare His word that we actually change the spiritual atmosphere  around us. The Book of Psalms is a rich source of examples of praise and thanksgiving to the Lord. As I  read through the psalms, I offer many of the beautiful hymns directly the Lord to glorify and magnify His name.
There is a great book titled "Knowing God" by Henry T. Blackaby and Claude V. King.  The appendix of the study guide lists some beautiful names, titles, and descriptions of God. I would like to share a few of these with you in hopes that they will inspire you in your praise and worship time. As we call out these names to glorify His Majesty we are also reminded of the pure and precious attributes and qualities of our King.
